Mercy johnson’s mother isn’t bothered by scandal rocking her daughter’s wedding, which has caused a stir in the media. The wedding which has been earlier overshadowed by rumours that it has been called-off will be holding on August 27.

Check out her interview culled from Popular nigerian weekly magazine, E-247.

Madam, are you indeed Mercy Johnson’s mother?

Yes I am. Mrs Elizabeth Johnson, mother of Mercy Johnson.

What are your plans towards her marriage amidst these controversies?

I don’t have any plans now, God is our town planner, I put my trust in Him. He is the one that raised her to where she is today, before she met Odi God was aware, everything happening today are not unknown to Him. My belief is that if God assigns Odi of which I know He has done for her, as a husband, the gate of hell can’t prevail over it. God that made their paths cross know their future, present and past, whosoever stands anywhere looking for the downfall of the innocent girl will face the battle of God.

Madam, did Odi inform you he was married as is generally reported in the media?

Odi isn’t married, he told our family, that when he got to Italy, the lady was his girlfriend and she bore him a child, later, Lovely met a guy and followed him to Canada and she bore him that boy, the woman herself confirmed it. We are not aware of other things because Odi has said the truth and when we asked him how long they separated, he said for the past 5 years. Let us say the truth and let the devil be ashamed. I have told my daughter to let the will of God be done in her life. As for rumour mongers saying Mercy has scattered her home, she is the one who scattered her home because if she loves Odi she wouldn’t have followed another man and even giving him a child, the man is late now, so they want to set my innocent daughter up and spoil her day of joy and I know God will never agree with them.

Why do you think this is a planned work to disrupt Mercy’s wedding?

There are people who watch you without you knowing, out of all the children I have, Mercy is unique, I can never deny her anytime any day, she is gifted and God has used her to bring the family up, so if anybody is stepping on my joy, he or she will face the wrath of God cos one stupid person who claims to be a man of God said in the newspapers that if her mother is reasonable enough she will make her cancel the wedding. The man is not a born-again cos if he is and isn’t deaf and blind, he would have asked how a woman who left her husband five years ago now shows up threatening with fire and brimstone, this definitely is a set up but as many as run their mouths against the Johnson’s family will face the wrath of God because we are innocent.

Did you have any inkling at her inception or birth that she would be this famous?

No, we are Christians in our family, we hand our children to God and after that it is sealed up. It is God who made her what she is today, when she was young, she used to play and make a lot of people laugh, she is very free, that made us to know that she had a brighter future ahead, she was the head girl in secondary school, she always come first in sports, dress rehearsals so I see no reason why she shouldn’t excel in her career. No evil hands or thought against Mercy can work; nobody can overcome her I Jesus name. (Father cuts in) I have been reading stories tarnishing our image, imagine somebody wrote that I said I have cancelled the wedding, when did I say so? We should have the fear of God in whatever we do. Like this Lovely of a person, if she is actually the wife of Odi and my daughter is struggling to take her away from her marriage, I will pray to God and tell my daughter not to go into another person’s home but the truth is my daughter knew Odi in 2009, if Odi is so important to him why must he leave him for another man; now that the guy is dead now, she wants to come back saying somebody is snatching her husband from her, I can phone Odi’s father and they will tell you they don’t even know her.

There was also a report that Mercy has run away from home?

How can they say she has run away from home, I saw her this morning, we were together.

Madam, are you saying the wedding is still going on as planned?

God is a God of plans, He will bring out everything perfectly, we depend and look up to Him, we have put everything into his hands and nobody can change the plan of God

What would the party be like, is it going to be church affair or with some traditional touches?

In our area, we do traditional, court and church weddings. I did the three when I was getting married to her father; it is the same pattern that we will follow.

You don’t attend the same church with mercy?

No we don’t, we attend Pentecostal church, Mercy and her elder sister used to go to The Redeemed Christian of God before she started attending the Christ Embassy

What are her church plans for the wedding?

Fela was jailed in 1984 for having in his possession the sum of ‘£1,600 pounds meant for the entire band of 26 persons, at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, on their way to Europe for a scheduled concert.

He was tried by a Judge, Okoro-Idogwu and sentenced to prison for a period of 5 years under Major General Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari’s law then states that no Nigerian should be in possession of more than £500, but exemption of course was given to military personnel and to those who have earned the foreign exchange legitimately.

So, if all the 26 member band were to hold £500 each, they sure would have had £13,000 legitimate money.

Fela was at the Airport with his manager, an European, Rikki Stein, who also had in his possession papers to show, Fela earned the said money legitimately from a previous overseas tour.

Yet, despite all these glaring evidences, Fela was prevented from going for that scheduled trip, his son Femi and the rest of the band however made the trip and it was a great success.

The government of Major General Muhammadu Buhari in the meantime had other ideas, namely this -Fela, their vocal critic must be sent to jail.

Quickly and sharply arraigned in court, the judge promptly sentenced Fela to a 10 year jail term on 2 counts, but to serve the terms, concurrently for a 5 year jail sentence.

That was September of 1984!

Fela was to be adequately punished and transfered to Maiduguri prisons.

It was on an auspicious day in August of 1985, Nigerians woke up to the broadcast of General Dogonyaro in which this historic words were uttered:

“Fellow Nigerians….

The Nigerian public has been made to believe that the slow pace of action of the Federal Government headed by Major-General Muhammadu Buhari was due to the enormity of the problems left by the last civilian administration.

Although it is true that a lot of problems were left behind by the last civilian government, the real reason, however, for the very slow pace of action is due to lack of unanimity of purpose among the ruling body; subsequently, the business of governance has gradually been subjected to ill-motivated power play considerations. The ruling body, the Supreme Military Council, has, therefore, progressively been made redundant by the actions of a select few members charged with the day-to-day implementation of the SMC’s policies and decision.

The concept of collective leadership has been substituted by stubborn and ill advised unilateral actions, thereby destroying the principles upon which the government came to power. Any effort made to advise the leadership, met with stubborn resistance and was viewed as a challenge to authority or disloyalty.

Thus, the scene was being set for systematic elimination of what, was termed oppositions. All the energies of therulership were directed at this imaginary opposition rather than to effective leadership.

The result of this misdirected effort is now very evidentin the country as a whole. The government has started to drift. The economy does not seem to be getting any better as we witness daily increased inflation.

The nation’s meager resources are once again being wasted on unproductive ventures. Government has distanced itself from the people and the yearnings and aspirations of the people as constantly reflected in the media have been ignored.

This is because a few people have arrogated to themselves the right to make the decisions for the larger part of the ruling body.”

And shortly after Buhari took over, same Judge, Justice Okoro-Idogwu that sentenced Fela, found his way to a hospital in Maiduguri, where Fela had been admitted due to the harsh realities of prison sentence in the harshest environment.

Either by acts of commission or omission, covert or consciousness, conscience or overt, justice Okoro-Idogwu made straight for Fela’s bed where he tendered an apology to Fela, and according to Fela, “the judge don beg o”!

As we were all made to believe, the judge confessed that the government of Major General Muhammadu Buhari prevailed on him to jail Fela at all costs…

Fela did nothing wrong but his hands were proverbially, tied! With this Revelation and the relief that the people felt from being liberated from the tyrannical rule of Muhammadu Buhari, the new ruler, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, promptly ordered Fela brought to the Benin prisons and a few weeks later had him released to the joys of the Good people of the federal Republic of Nigeria.

The aftermath of this inglorious episode in the history of this country was the release of one of Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s most endearing and profoundly soulful songs, a critical as well as a mega commercial success that earned, Fela a Grammy Award nomination – Beast Of No Nation

The brother of the deceased in his post revealed that Isaiah had last month visited their home to pay the brideprice of Joy. Read what he wrote below :

“WITH TEARS DRIPPING DOWN MY CHEEKS , I TYPE THIS:
My hands keep swaying and freting since yesterday evening each time I tried to articulate my thoughts on this. I can’t just get my words . Since yesterday pictures and videos have been circulating the internet about a young man who murdered his “girlfriend”. She was no longer a girlfriend as her BRIDE PRICE WAS JUST PAID LAST MONTH AND OZOEMENA JUST RETURNED TO LAGOS WITH THE GUY. The deceased lady was my sister from Umuayom , Umuobeye , Nkalaha in Ishielu local goverment area of Ebonyi State where we were both born and brought up …. The last post she made on Facebook was on the 16th of this month with her username , Nina Joy-Seraph. The first child of her parents. . The last time I travelled to the village , I did asked her mother about her and she said she was fine .

My peace has eluded me . I cannot articulate my thought . For a certain lady who is busy peddling the rumour that the deceased (Oz) recked the guy financially and wanted to jilt him , I need to tell you that Oz’s bride price was paid recently and she was bruttally killed by the guy for what from every indication was for ritual purpose .. Pray neither you nor your sisters will be a victim of this kind of horror . I can recall how this girl went with her poor mother to work on people’s farms to make ends meet.

She had her secondary education at the only secondary school in our village . John Arthur Johnson (March 31, 1878 – June 10, 1946), nicknamed the Galveston Giant, was an American boxer who, at the height of the Jim Crow era, became the first African American world heavyweight boxing champion (1908–1915).

Among the period’s most dominant champions, Johnson remains a boxing legend, with his 1910 fight against James J. Jeffries dubbed the “fight of the century.”

In 1912, Johnson was arrested on charges of violating the Mann Act—forbidding one to transport a woman across state lines for “immoral purposes”—a racially motivated charge that embroiled him in controversy for his relationships, including marriages, with white women.

According to filmmaker Ken Burns, “for more than thirteen years, Jack Johnson was the most famous and the most notorious African-American on Earth”.

Although the #MannAct was created to stop forced sexual slavery of women, the most common use of the Mann Act was to prosecute men for having sex with underage females.

The phrase “immoral purpose” in the statute allowed an extremely broad application of the law following the United States Supreme Court ruling in Caminetti v. United States (1917), which held that “illicit fornication”, even when consensual, constituted an “immoral purpose.”

In addition to its stated purpose of preventing human trafficking, the law was used to prosecute unlawful premarital, extramarital, and interracial relationships.

The penalties would be applied to men whether or not the woman involved consented and, if she had consented, the woman could be considered an accessory to the offense. Some attribute enactment of the law to the case of world champion heavyweight boxer Jack Johnson.

Johnson was known to be intimate with white women, some of whom he met at the fighting venue after his fights. The year the Mann Act of 1912 was enacted he was prosecuted, and later convicted, for “transporting women across state lines for immoral purposes” as a result of his relationship with a white prostitute named Belle Schreiber; the month prior to the prosecution, Johnson had been charged with violating the Mann Act due to traveling with his white girlfriend, Lucille Cameron, who refused to cooperate with the prosecution and whom he married soon thereafter.

While the Mann Act was meant to combat forced prostitution, it had repercussions that extended into consensual sexual activity. Because it lacked specificity, it criminalized many who were not participating in prostitution. It became a way to persecute large numbers of unmarried couples participating in premarital or extramarital activities, especially when it involved crossing state lines such as in the cases for Chuck Berry and Jack Johnson. The Mann Act also became a form of blackmail, by wives who were suspicious of cheating husbands or other women.

On December 23, 1959, Chuck Berry is arrested in St. Louis, Missouri, on charges relating to his transportation of a 14-year-old girl across state lines for allegedly “immoral purposes.”

In October and November 1912, Johnson was arrested twice under the Mann Act. It was generally acknowledged that the arrests were racially motivated. A presidential pardon was granted on May 24, 2018, by the 45th U.S. President, Donald John Trump.

President Trump on Thursday pardoned Jack Johnson, the first black heavyweight champion, who was convicted in 1913 of transporting a white woman across state lines.

Mr. Trump signed the pardon for Johnson during an Oval Office ceremony, sitting at the Resolute Desk and flanked by Sylvester Stallone, Lennox Lewis and other fighters.

The president called Johnson “a truly great fighter, had a tough life,” but served 10 months in federal prison “for what many view as a racially-motivated injustice.” Mr. Trump said the conviction took place during a “period of tremendous racial tension in the United States.”

Decades after Johnson was convicted under the Mann Act, his case drew significant attention as a gross miscarriage of justice and a symbol of the depths of racism in the American justice system.

Johnson was convicted in 1913 of violating the Mann Act on charges that he transported a white woman across state lines “for immoral purposes.” The woman Johnson transported, Belle Schreiber, worked as a prostitute and had been in a steady relationship with the heavyweight champion.

Johnson was sentenced to a year in prison, but he fled the country for several years, returning in 1920 to serve his sentence.

“He was treated very rough, very tough,” Mr. Trump said Thursday as he signed what he called an “executive grant of clemency, a full pardon” to Johnson.

The World Boxing Council, one of boxing’s sanctioning bodies, invited the current and former champions, including the American Deontay Wilder and Lewis of Britain, to the ceremony, according to Tim Smith, the vice president of communications for Haymon Boxing.

Not only was Johnson the first black man to win the heavyweight world championship, but he also was the rare black man of his era who was brash, ostentatious and unapologetic about his wealth and success. He taunted his opponents in the ring and dated white women, which was taboo at the time.

Johnson’s persona and race led to harsh coverage from newspapers over the years, which only served to further a negative image of the fighter.

“Jack Johnson lived in the lap of luxury, abused the fame and fortune that came to him, and died bereft of riches,” read an Associated Press article that ran in The New York Times after he died in 1946.

But in the decades after Johnson died, as society became more enlightened, his conviction came to be seen as a miscarriage of justice. Politicians and celebrities including John McCain, Stallone and the filmmaker Ken Burns advocated for his pardon.

The Obama administration passed on pardoning Johnson, citing in part allegations of domestic violence against women.

But last month, President Trump tweeted that he was considering pardoning Johnson after Stallone had told him about the boxer’s story.

Johnson’s 1910 fight against James J. Jeffries inspired the 1967 play and 1970 movie “The Great White Hope.”

After Johnson had won the heavyweight title in 1908, many in white society advocated for a white fighter to step up and win the title back. Jeffries, a former champion who had been in retirement, took up that challenge. But Johnson decimated Jeffries, a victory that sparked violent white backlash in the form of riots across the country.

According to Bella Naija, the reality TV show will have 12 contestants; 7 females and 5 males.

The contestants, who will be living in the same house, will not be allowed to communicate with anyone outside the house.

There will be no eviction, no voting and no winner.

The show is slated to air on Linda Ikeji TV (LITV).

Laura Ikeji, Linda’s sister on Sunday, May 20, 2018 revealed on her Instagram page that the blogger is expecting her first child.

Meet Singer Lola Rae, She was Born on the 20th of January, Rachel Funmilola Garton aka “Lola Rae” is a 22 year-old British singer of Nigerian/Ghanaian and British Heritage with high aspirations combined with a great amount of talent and potential to match.

Lola Rae garnered national recognition as a dancer in the Street dance group “Myztikal” that competed in (GWI Street dance champions 2008 U18 Champions).

It wasn’t until Myztikal auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent in 2010 when her singing prowess was brought to the stage, with Simon Cowell singling her out at both the audition and semi-final stage that Lola Rae began to believe her dreams could become reality.

Since then, rather than go down the conventional route to X-Factor UK – where an option had been offered to Rachel by Syco (Simon Cowell’s record label) for an audition, she instead decided that she’d greater benefit from finding herself as an artist and deciding what she wanted to be, as opposed to a mould being created for her. Building up a catalogue of songs, her first singles being an up tempo dance track title “Watch My Ting Go”, High ft Bridge (LOS) and Fi Mi Le ft Iyanya amongst other recordings.

She also starred in Panshak “Ice Prince” Zamani’s “More” video as the singers love interest. Lola Rae’s strengths lie in her jazzy and soulful feel, comparable to the vibe given off by greats such as Nina Simone and Amy Winehouse.

Despite comparisons, Lola Rae ultimately prides herself in her uniqueness and it would certainly be wrong to box her solely into the typical jazz & soul mould. Working with producer P2J, she has found her voice offers versatility and her sound should not be put in one simple category.

It has been God almighty

How did acting start for you because not many would have believed in you seeing your situation?

I started my career as a musician and have shot three good musical videos. It was on musical shows I met with Baba Tee, and he introduced me to the movie industry and that’s how it all started.

Human rights activist and senator representing Kaduna Central Zone, Shehu Sani, has said that the days of Governor Nasir El-Rufai in office are numbered following his decision to contest against him in the 2019 governorship election.

Besides, Sani also said that he would soon officially decamp from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to one of the opposition parties where he will vie for the post to challenge El-Rufai.

The senator, who spoke in an interview at the weekend, said the attacks and killings by Boko Haram insurgents and Fulani herdsmen would affect the political fortune of the APC during the presidential and governorship elections in many states.

According to him: “It was very clear that the results of the recently-conducted local council elections in Kaduna State did not reflect what happened.

Even, there was no ward congress in the state; they just wrote list of names and submitted and this situation has worsened the internal crisis among those who used their money to buy forms.

“Let it be known to Governor El-Rufai that I am contesting against him in 2019 governorship election in the state. The election will not be conducted by the state electoral commission.

It will be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and every Nigerian shall defend their votes openly.”

In another development, the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) yesterday declared that the APC won in all the 13 local councils in the state.

Chairman of NASIEC, Henry Omaku, who announced the results of the election at the commission’s headquarters in Lafia, said: “The All Progressives Congress has pulled the highest votes in all the 13 local councils and declared winner.”

Nigerian Entertainment: The name Baddy Oosha is quite popular on the streets of Nigeria, could you formally introduce yourself?
Baddy Oosha: My real name is Akeem Badmus

NE: You are also popularly known as “Lion” where did that reference stem from?
Baddy Oosha: The Lion is the king of the jungle naw and I’m the king of my lane (Street) I can be calm and I can rooooooar

NE: Baddy Oosha is also popular within the Nigerian Entertainment industry, where did you love for the industry begin?
Baddy Oosha: I’ve always been an actor. I started acting when I was in primary school and I’ve always loved and invested in showbiz since high school, So it’s been a while.

NE: Some popular artists have used your name in their songs, how would you say you rose to fame in the industry?
Baddy Oosha: I’ve been supporting Nigerian music in one or two ways and Errmmmm I’ll say by just being yourself, famzing is not necessary, a lot of people are watching and if they appreciate you they’ll surely give you a shout out

NE: So, you are also an actor, having done a good number of Yoruba films, Can you give us a bit of history?
Baddy Oosha: Hehehehhe I actually stopped acting in 2007 until recently. I stopped acting because I was scammed for a huge amount of money ( Millions ) for a film production by a director and funny enough when I took the preview copy to a marketer he said he can’t buy it for more than 250k. I cried because I sold so many things for that movie. So I was discouraged but I am back but we are not rolling in the old ways anymore. You know LION is a big brand now naw, so anything that wanna come out from OOSHA EMPIRE must be superb.

NE: Oosha Empire? Is that the name of your entertainment outfit?
Baddy Oosha: Yes it is

NE: What industries will it support ?
Baddy Oosha: Music and Movies

NE: Your love for music is evident, who would you say are your all-time favorite Nigerian Musicians?
Baddy Oosha: You know I be Street boy naw so I f*k with Saheed Osupa, Reminisce and Olamide all day. Also Small Doctor, you know the history naw

NE: From the streets to the studio – what prompted you to record your first single?
Baddy Oosha: Funny enough I didn’t plan it. I went to visit my mom and a guy told me he owns a studio that I should please come check it out to see if it’s a good standard studio, so I can tell my friends about it. When I got there, an artist was recording and I was trying to correct him that this is wrong, he got angry and he said are you an artist? You think it’s easy? I said I’m not an artist but I’m close to so many and I’ve seen how they record, in short, I can do better than you, then I said producer, play me a beat and gimme 20 mins, if I don’t come up with something I’ll give the artist 100k. That’s how I came up with E’semi the first single, and everyone was surprised. I didn’t even want to release it but I sent it to some of my friends in the industry and let me just call it a leak because they loved it.

NE: How has the reception been?
Baddy Oosha: You know say Na joke me I dey, I am just doing my thing, but trust me iTunes and music plus they pay me well sha, which means people love it

NE: Any plans for an album?
Baddy Oosha: Album ke? Except a DJ or someone piles my singles up but for now, not me lol..

NE: Any plans to shoot videos?
Baddy Oosha: That’s what am saying, I count those things as stress because to me I am only singing for fun, I am not an artiste per say. Would you believe some artistes started feeling intimidated when I started dropping songs lol, like what’s wrong with this chairman, na everything u wan do? And some stopped giving me shout out lol. I want to give a big shout out to Olamide though .. so if I’m shooting a video, I may do it just for YouTube. if I’ll shoot any song, maybe Timba Lowo, I’ll just feature one artist on it, like 9ice or Davido, because we have almost same voice lol and I am a big fan of both too

NE: Out of your singles, E Semi, Timba Lowo, and Ibile Freestyle – which is your favorite?
Baddy Oosha: Errrrrmmmmm na everything oooo but I think when Timba Lowo come up anywhere people loved it, so I’ll go with people’s favorite

NE: What challenges did you face recording them?
Baddy Oosha: You know I don’t sit down and write, Na just to drink and tell producer to play beat, whatever I feel is what I record, like the latest single Ft small doctor, I was at Quilox clubbing and DJ Consequence was playing the Konga, then I started a freestyle in my mind, the next day, I called my artist and Small that I got an idea, we went to 2t Bois studio, and we made it happen .. Trust me the song is doing well on the mainland ooo lol ..

NE: Most know you for your street fame, do you think the transition to music will be taken seriously?
Baddy Oosha: I am not sure I can take music serious jare but never say never. I have a couple of music artists I am working on my label Oosha empire

NE: A couple of other music artistes have featured you on their singles, how did that come about?
Baddy Oosha: That’s what am saying, most of these people I’ve never met them ooo but if you have a good song and you write me, if I like it, I’ll record it and email it back to you, or probably If am recording my song and producers play songs from upcoming acts for me, if they need me I’ll do it for fun

NE: Who was the best artist to work with so far?
Baddy Oosha: I think Reminisce because he was on the same track with my boy Lekwise and he featured me too, but I was not there when he recorded but Small Doctor too Na monster ooo, trust me, so many hidden talents in that guy, he was the actual person that did the Konga for my new single, and the studio session was fun ..

NE: We know you have said you are doing music for fun, but what if fans of your music want you to do it full time?
Baddy Oosha: They can’t want it full naw, make them please naw but trust me I’m going fully into MOVIES, I’ll be acting and producing. That’s my where I will invest my 2017 budget.

NE: We know you are a ladies man. Describe your ideal woman.
Baddy Oosha: Be real that’s all..

NE: lol, that simple huh? Are you single or mingling?
Baddy Oosha: I’m singlemingling

NE: So for sure, for sure you plan on going back fully into the movie industry?
Baddy Oosha: Yes and capital YES! 2017 Lion is coming fully. I plan on Acting and Producing

NE: What do you think contributed most to your fame?
Baddy Oosha: I’m a philanthropist… I think people tell people, I’ve been through so many things in life so if you have access to me, I always try as much as I can to give you reason to smile, it’s not easy to have access to me though. lol

NE: What is next for Baddy Oosha – what do you hope to achieve in the next couple of years?
Baddy Oosha: Investing in myself in movie industry and investing in artists in music industry

NE: If there is anything you could change about yourself, what would it be?
Baddy Oosha: Expecting too much from friends because of the way I treat them. I expect the same but I’ve realized that life is not like that, we can’t be equal .. that sh*t has messed me up a couple of times but thank God we still dey.

NE: Any word of advice to those who look up to you?
Baddy Oosha: Be yourself, hustle and pray

Nigerian sex offender loses U.S citizenship, deported

A Nigerian man was deported Thursday after his U.S. citizenship was revoked in April following his conviction for indecency with a 7-year-old girl, a felony offense which he committed before he was naturalized.

Deportation officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) removed Emmanuel Olugbenga Omopariola, 61, to Nigeria May 24. .

He had been in ICE custody in the Dallas area since his arrest on April 18, 2018, when he surrendered himself at the ERO Dallas Field Office. He departed Dallas May 23 under ICE escort to Nigeria via JFK International Airport in New York City. .

He arrived in Ikeja, Nigeria, about 2:20 p.m. local time (9:20 a.m. CDT). “This deportation ends this U.S. chapter for Omopariola who sabotaged his own future and opportunities through his heinous crimes against a child, and his lies on his naturalization application and in interviews,” said Simona L. Omopariola originally legally entered the United States on March 25, 1983, on a nonimmigrant student visa. He was naturalized as a U.S. citizen July 1, 2004. During his naturalization proceedings, Omopariola withheld that he unlawfully engaged in sexual contact with a 7-year-old girl in 2002. .

This crime, even though he had not yet been arrested or convicted, “…rendered him unable to demonstrate the requisite good moral character for naturalization and, thus, ineligible for naturalization when he took the oath of allegiance…He therefore illegally procured his naturalization.”

After he was naturalized, Omopariola pleaded guilty in Texas state court in 2015 to indecency with a child — sexual contact, a second-degree felony. He was ordered to five years of community supervision and placed on the sex offender registry. He had been residing in Grand Prairie, Texas.
