Meet Ooni Of Ife’s  Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi’s New Bride: Tope Adesegun. She’s the Deputy Convener of Hopes Alive Initiative.

Temitope Adesegun is an on-air personality, a talented presenter with unprecedented disposition. Highly cerebral, precise, accurate and objective in all assignment. Temitope is a vibrant and result focused professional with over 15 years progressive experience as a public administrator at several levels and leader in health and other developmental communications and advocacy strategies.

Widely revered in management, Temitope bagged diplomas in Linguistics and Data Processing from the University of Lagos in 1998 and 2000 respectively and a Bachelors’ in Business Administration from the same university. She enjoyed a private sector career as anadministrative executive and public relations officerat several organisations.

In 2009, Mrs Adesegun became the Personal Assistant to the Secretary to the Lagos State Government: Princess Adenrele Adeniran-Ogunsanya; a position she managed till the end of her political tenure in 2011. Temitope  is also a certified alumnus of the following Universities: University of Oxford, United Kingdom, INSEAD Business School, Fontainebleau, France, University of Cambridge, Judge Business School, United Kingdom and Harvard Kennedy School of Government in the United States. Temitope has developed a strong commitment to development; an advocate of the now rested Millennium Development Goals and determined proponent of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

With commitment to public service and sheer determination to making positive impact; Temitope became the anchor and host of the Lagos State Ministry of Health Public Health Advocacy Program: Health-Wise which aired for 4 years to propagate appropriate information and improve knowledge of the 20 million residents in Lagos on Public health challenges faced in the state. The programme engaged leaders and stakeholders in the Lagos State Health System to tackle the impact of several public health threats in Lagos. During the 2014 Ebola Outbreak in Nigeria; Health-Wise was a strong advocacy platform for the Lagos State Government in disseminating appropriate information and curtailing the spread of the disease.

“With the Hopes Alive Initiative of His Imperial Majesty, all nongovernmental organizations all over the world can be in togetherness to seek firsthand information on the need of an organization who bears the same burden they bear and is willing to work closely with them, providing funds, partnerships, material and non-material aids just for the sole purpose of them achieving their organizational visions.”.

Only a rapscallion or brute from the bay of crooks could fault a King for exhibiting his divine right to love. Thus with no attempt at mischief, it couldn’t be wrong or distasteful for the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, to fall head over heels in love again. And if the subject of his affection is none other than a drop-dead beauty, Tope Adesegun, so be it.

If it is indeed true that Oba Ogunwusi is smitten over Tope, then the kingdom of Ile Ife and high society are undeniably in for a long, interesting haul of romance and intrigues characteristic of love in royal and celebrity circles. You couldn’t fault Oba Ogunwusi for falling in love, and you couldn’t hate him for seeking her hand in marriage, even if you tried.

The pressure to get the Ooni to marry another wife is therefore predicated on the need to avoid any case of accidental discharge that might rubbish the traditional institution he represents. Soon after his second marriage to ex-wife, Wuraola Otiti Obanor, crashed to irreconcilable differences, Ooni seems to have rediscovered love in Tope Adesegun.

Though separated from his two estranged wives, Olori Adebukola and Wuraola, the Ooni is reckoned to be at an impressionable age, his level of power, influence and street cred nevertheless, to actually take his eyes off fine females. As of now, surreptitious moves are being made to get the respectable king to fill his multi-million naira palace with as many women as can satisfy His Royal Majesty’s libido.

In Africa, especially in this part, kings enjoy massive royal influence so much that if they chose to teem their palaces with as many women as they so wish, they are not expected to be questioned by any human, rather, they should be given all the support to make their wishes come to fruition; this overriding influence is so pronounced in the South West that the Yorubas call kings ‘Kabiyesi,’ which literally translates to ‘he whose actions cannot be questioned.

According to an exclusive report by TheCable,

‘Ooni of Ife is head over heels in love again. And the subject of his affection is none other than a drop-dead beauty, Tope Adesegun’

Oba Ogunwusi is smitten over Tope and the kingdom of Ile Ife and high society are undeniably in for a long, interesting haul of romance and intrigues characteristic of love in royal and celebrity circles’.

If indeed the Ooni takes Tope as his new bride, she’ll be his third wife following the king’s seperation from his two estranged wives, Olori Adebukola and Olori Wuraola.

For those who don’t know, Temitope Adesegun is a highly influential woman in business and management. She bagged diplomas in Linguistics and Data Processing from the University of Lagos in 1998 and 2000 respectively and a Bachelors’ in Business Administration from the same university. She enjoyed a private sector career as an administrative executive and public relations officer at several organisations.

Currently, she leads the working team of the Hopes Alive Initiative under the Auspices and Management of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II through the House of Oduduwa Foundation

A 17-year-old girl, Ramatu Tafida, has cut off the manhood of her 25-year-old boyfriend, Abdullahi Sabo, in Jigawa State.

The spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence (NSCDC), Adamu Shehu, disclosed this in Dutse on Saturday.

He said the incident occurred in Babura local government area of the state.

Shehu said the victim is a resident of Kofar Gabas and a teacher at Government Girls Secondary School Babura engaged under N-Power.

“The incident occurred on Thursday in Babura. The attention of our officers was drawn by a Good Samaritan who informed them that some youths were about to lynch a girl in Kofar Arewa, the resident of the suspect, to revenge for their friend.

“Immediately the officers swung into action and went to the scene and whisked the girl away to the office for safety. But the youths still followed her.

“It was when they got to the office that we realised what led to the whole matter.

“Ramlatu confessed to have used a knife to cut off the manhood of her husband-to-be.

“According to her, Abdullahi is the love of her life and he was even introduced to her family members and has equally paid the sum of N30,000 as introduction fee.

“And because of that, she was free to be with him almost all the time. As a result they became too intimate that they engaged in sexual relationship.

“However, Ramlatu later learnt that the victim planned to dump her for another girl since he has already known her as a woman. And that made her to plan and execute her attack,” he said.

Woman Mrs. Veronica Iorshe sleeps with son to have a child for her husband

The story of a woman sleeping with her son from her first marriage in order to raise children for her husband from her second marriage sounds so strange. Unbelievable! Did we hear you say abomination of the highest order? Well, that’s exactly what happened when Mrs. Veronica Iorshe, 47, from Howe, Ugee Council Ward slept with her son from her first marriage in order to have children for her second husband, Sebastian Iorshe, 44, from Aliade, all in the same Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State.

Beginning of a tragic story

The tragic story started much earlier when Veronica got married, at 19, to Mr. James Hon (now late) from Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue state. The marriage was blessed with one child, a son. But eight months after, Hon died in an auto accident on the Makurdi-Enugu road while returning from a business trip. He used to trade in palm oil. After his death, Veronica summoned up the courage and continued with the business while staying in her husband’s house. But owing to some irreconcilable differences between her and her husband’s people, she returned to her maternal place but still continued with the oil-trading business, with her only son, Simon Hon.

But somewhere along the line Veronica switched to bushmeat marketing business. In her itinerary, she would travel to Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa state to buy the meat and thereafter sell it to the people of Aliade in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State. It was in the course of doing this that she met Sebastian Iorshe, a Tiv man from the area and a love relationship developed between the two. As it were, Sebastian had also lost his spouse two months after marriage in 1998.

So, given the mutual fate and feelings shared by the widow and widower, they did not see any reason not to marry and settle down as husband and wife. They did so about eight years ago. But the marriage ran into a big storm when it repeatedly failed to produce a child or children to cement the relationship. Matters were not helped much with Veronica’s movement into the second marriage with her only son, Simon, now 26-years-old. Sebastian’s mother who is not happy over the couple’s inability to produce children was said to regularly accuse Veronica of using her son’s wealth to train up her own son.

Descent into the abominable act

But amid the frosty relationship, suspicion, accusations and counter-accusations created by this development, the couple neglected to go for a medical check up to ascertain the source of the problem. Veronica put the blame on her husband. She claims that while she was willing, her husband was not. She said she suspects that her husband, said to be suffering from low sperm count, had, all along, known that he is unable to father a child.

But not too sure of where the problem lay, Veronica decided to test her own virility or potency by luring her son into secret lovemaking (with a stem warning not to reveal the affair to anybody). Investigation by Saturday Sun reveals that the serial lovemaking session lasted throughout the month of March and April 2018. Each time Veronica came down to Lafia with her son to deliver dry meat to restaurants around the area, she would rent a hotel room where she would, time and again, lure her son into performing sexual acts with her. Her reason for doing so she said, was to ascertain whether the fault was from her or not. At the end of April the result came out when she missed her period, signaling that she was pregnant.

But when she broke to her husband, what ordinarily would have been good news, he denied being responsible for it and suspected foul play. Stating February 1, 2018 as the last time they had sex together, he wondered how that would have resulted in pregnancy two months after. He added that if she missed her period at the end of April, then he is not responsible for it. This development led to suspicion that created a big crisis in the family. On 2nd August 2018, both of them submitted themselves to a medical test in Lafia based on the advice of a close relation. The result showed that Veronica is three months pregnant and confirmed the fact her last lovemaking with her husband February 1, couldn’t have led to that.

Matters turned out worse when another test conducted on her husband showed that he has weak and low sperm count that would make it impossible to father a child. The moment these details were released by the hospital, the angry husband, accusing her of infidelity, asked his wife to pack out of his house to go and live with the man responsible for her pregnancy.

Confession and moment of truth

After persistent pressure from our correspondent, Veronica eventually opened up to tell her own side of the story. “I am not a loose woman,” she said. “I am just a woman who loves her husband very much and didn’t want to lose him. I did what I did to save my marriage even though I feel guilty about it. It was not easy but I slept with my first son from my first husband so that I could give my husband a child. But rather sustaining my marriage, the plan has scattered it and I have lost it.

“I got married to my husband eight years ago. We had no child. The worst was that I never got pregnant even for one day. When I discovered that I was no longer getting younger, I was worried as much as he and his parents were. His mother became so impatient that she started breathing down my neck as she gave me no breathing space at all. She said that I was cheating on her son, using his son’s money to maintain my son, that I’m older than his son.

“She moved in to live with us and practically made life in my matrimonial home unbearable for me. At a point, she stopped talking to me. The only time she would talk to me was when she wanted to insult me and remind me of how less a woman I was. I was confused, more so when my husband refused to submit himself to a medical test to ascertain the source of the problem, though we loved each other before the heavy pressure from his mum came. We used to have serious lovemaking sessions especially during my ovulation period all in the bid to get pregnant so that my mother-in-law could stop humiliating me. Yet, I couldn’t get pregnant. I started suspecting the problem could be from my husband when he refused to subject himself to medical test. But the insult from my mother-in-law was getting too much, too unbearable for me. She vowed to frustrate me out of her son’s home. To make things worse, she sent away my son saying that he has no business staying in the house. I had to look for a one-room apartment for him in Lafia.

“After he left, it was just three of us in the house in Awe, which is a distance away from Lafia. I was always terrified each time I heard her voice from a distance. She tried to frustrate my meat market in Awe. In fact, the only time that I had peace was when I went to the market. It is so agonizing to say this. Instead of testing someone else to ascertain my fertility, I seduced and slept with my son. Simon is a young man in his early 20s; he has not started sleeping with women before I lured him into making love with me.

“I started by buying good things for him, sleeping together on the same bed, playing with his manhood and gradually one thing led to another. There was a time I asked him if he had tested sex before and he said no. I compelled him to take an oath not to disclose it to anybody. I said I would teach him sex. I ensured that I did that during my ovulation period. I never disclosed the reason for this but deep in my mind, I wanted to test my fertility. I planned it during my ovulation so that I could get pregnant, although it was not easy sleeping with a son. I knew I was doing the wrong thing and betraying my husband but I saw it as a necessary action to save my marriage. I didn’t want to go out sleeping with another man outside. I knew it was wrong but I prefer it from my son than a man outside. After one month, I discovered that I was pregnant.”

Picking pieces of a broken life

Now that the deed had been done and her husband had sent her packing from matrimonial, you wanted to know what she was going to do. She responded that she would do nothing else but piece together the pieces of her broken life and move on. She would relocate to Markurdi, she said to continue the dry meat supply business with her son. But how about the pregnancy, you managed to ask. Is she going to abort or keep it? Though she regrets her action, she said, she had decided to keep it because “it is blood within my blood.” Saturday Sun understands that when the heat became unbearable, Veronica asked her son to relocate to Benue State to avoid unforeseen circumstances.

Husband’s reaction

Speaking on the issue Sebastian expressed his disappointment over his wife’s betrayal and vowed never to forgive her. “I don’t want to believe the story she is narrating to you that her son is responsible for it, though I have not suspected her or seen any sign that an outsider was dating her,” he said. “But the truth is that I’m not responsible for the pregnancy and will not allow her into my house. It is a shame for me to be associated with a mess like this. Please, I don’t want to talk about it anymore; she is no longer my wife.”

I LOVE YOU NANCY …. ( A STORY WRITTEN BY DANIEL HEPHZIBAH)

Nancy was every man’s dream. A role model to many and the” top banana” of the youth choir. Very well known on facebook and her picture causes a bottleneck whenever she post one.

She’s an embodiment of beauty. A motivator ,a holiness preacher and also an hipster .Many atimes brothers grappled just to get her attention just because of her charm.

“Hi Nancy” Emeka inboxed. How are you? I’m a big fan of your episodes and inspirational messages, can we be friends?

Nancy read but didn’t reply. Emeka’s message slept in her inbox for weeks and was begging for attention, but Nancy never replied. The following week Emeka wrote again, Nancy read, but this time visited Emeka’s timeline and found out that Emeka was just a regular guy with few followers. His pictures has never gotten more than 15 likes and she saw him as a downmarket.

“Where have I gone wrong? Emeka asked himself . Am I that ugly? I know I don’t have money to buy fancy clothes but that doesn’t make me less human.

Fast ➡ forward 2 months and they met at the youths conference and Emeka accosted Nancy again.

“Hi Sister Nancy” he waved, but Nancy looked at him and snobbed him.

Emeka felt shattered. He has fallen in love with Nancy already , but the constant snub breaks his heart daily

What a beauty, he said. Only if she had said hi to me, I would have been the happiest man alive. God I really wish I’d be the one to marry this sister, he said again to himself.

Emeka was frustrated, so he decided to up his game by going to the marriage committee . The following week, Nancy was called by the marriage committee and she observed all the procedures. When she finally saw that it was Emeka, she was sore vexed. ” you again? She said. Why do you think you can just marry anyone you see on facebook?

“It’s not like that Nancy, I can explain”

Explain what actually? That you looked and searched around and you decided that I’d be the one to marry you? Pipe dreams bro! Well, now you have the attention you craved, use it to buy jeep, she said and walked away.

Nancy please listen to me!! Emeka said, (as he holds her hand) I might not be as good looking as the guys that flocks around you. I might be everything you do not want from a man, but I have something to offer as a husband.

Eheheheheheheh Nancy laughed . Looks at him from head down to his shoes and laughed even harder. Emeka was wearing a well ironed trouser and a bogus starched sleeve like a typical hillbilly .

Brooooooooooo(she stretches) ………. What’s that your name again?

Emeka , (bro Emeka helps her)

Ok Emeka, as you can see, I hardly know your name and you’re talking of marriage. I can’t marry your type. We are from different world. Do not ever try to stop me next time or else I’ll report you to the police.

Emeka was sad as she watches Nancy walk away.

Nancy went about doing her thing and brothers kept coming for her, but she turned many of them down. She had brothers who she was crushing on and would love to marry, but none of them looked her way, as these brothers had their own crushes.

When Nancy finally graduated she went for service and at that time she clocked 31. By the time she was done with youth service, she was a year older and still hasn’t met her dream utopian husband.

One night she was on her bed playing” Temple Run ” game when her friend Sharon called her.

“Hey sweetie ” it’s me Sharon

“How are you Sharon? Nancy replied ”

“I’m fine sweetie, guess what?

” I can’t guess jor, please tell me ”

“Okay ,myself and Fred finally fixed a date for our white wedding ”

“Wow congratulations girl!! This is great news, Nancy said as she giggles ”

“Yeah yeah!! Please sweetie I want you to be my bridesmaids. Just stop at my place next week so my tailor can take your measurements”.

When Sharon ended the call, Nancy became blue . She was bridesmaids to Esther, Mirabel , Ada and now Sharon?

What is happening to me? Am I cursed? Like I don’t get it, Ada ,Mirabel Esther and Sharon are not prettier than me. In fact, these are people I give some of my old clothes, and they are all married. Is there something wrong with me? Nancy began to think out loud as she ended her Temple Run game and grabbed her pillow to sleep.

Fast ➡ forward to 2years later, she began to look for job as she has always dreamed of having a nice job with a corner office. She’s posted her curriculum on LinkedIn and other blogs but no good news yet. One day she heard by serendipity that a company in Lagos is hiring and she went to join the cue of job hunters for interview. When it got to her turn, she greeted the manager.

“Hi Nancy” the manager said.

Nancy looked closely and found out the man behind the desk was Emeka. Same Emeka he rejected and insulted . She turned back and was about leaving the office when Emeka called her back.

“Sit down” he said .
You see by God’s grace I was employed here 8months after I finished my Nysc. In fact how I got the job is along story, which I’ll tell you later, but let’s talk about you! You’re looking so beautiful as usual. Do you need anything to drink?

Nancy began to cry. Life has humbled her. She couldn’t say anything , and she stood up again to leave the office, Emeka ran to hold her.

It’s okay Nancy, I understand how you feel. You see, I really did loved you. I grappled day and night to contain my feelings for you, so as not to hurt myself more or even make mistake in my heavenly race.

All I needed was to be friends with you and more. I’m an introvert and don’t have too many friends, but you would have been to me, what a thousand friends would have offered me. I might be unsociable but I’m an eager beaver and would have worked myself out to be the best husband to you. On your birthday I was the one that sent you a portrait as a gift, Emeka continued as he too began to bucket down tear drops.

No you weren’t the one Nancy said in surprise, as she raised her head up and looked Emeka in the eyes .

Yes I was, Nancy. I couldn’t face you so I dropped the gift with your kid sister that day.

On hearing this, Nancy cried aloud and Emeka brought out his handkerchief and then offered it to her, but she was inconsolable .

“Nancy, can you give me another chance to draw you a portrait? This time not as an anonymous man, but as your husband”.

Nancy knelt down and was about to apologize when Emeka held her up and smiled. Please don’t, Nancy, I’m not asking this because of what has happened, but what I feel for you has remained unchanged. Can I be your Ronald Reagan ? Can you give us a chance to continue from where we stopped at the marriage committee?

Yes! she said with tears drops .

Everything went fast and they eventually wedded. Nancy became the happiest woman on earth and Emeka loved her so much.

On their wedding night Emeka drew near to her as they sat on the bed. I have a surprise for you he said.

What surprise honey? Life has surprised me already. I’m not ready for more, at least for now.

Emeka smiled and said, don’t worry my love, I’ll show you in the morning.

That night they consummated the wedding and Nancy woke up to a bright morning. She sighed and stretched herself, and as she looked down, she saw a portrait of hers lying on the table with a written note.

Good morning honey, I told you I had a surprise for you right? Well here it is. I woke up by 4am just to draw a portrait of you. It was a no brainer because your picture is embossed in my heart already. I went out to the groceries and I’ll be back in a jiffy.

I love you my habibi(My love).
Your lovely husband.

Nancy began to cry again. Emeka had broken all her resolve and walls in just 3 months.

She knelt down and said a short prayer.
Lord I thank you for your mercy.
Thank you for not allowing this gift pass me by.
Thank you because, even when I was acting irrational, you still didn’t allow this gift, cocooned as a husband, slip through my fingers. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Prophet Martin Kofi Danso Impregnates Church Member, After Private Jet Gift

A Toronto based Ghanaian pastor impregnates church member just two years after a member of his church gifted him a private jet.

The self-proclaimed “prophet” can’t keep his identity secret in the paternity case just because the publicity could damage his reputation and hurt him financially, a judge ruled Tuesday.

Ontario Superior Court Justice Fred Myers dismissed a request by Martin Kofi Danso to extend a publication ban and sealing order on a court file related to allegations that he fathered a child with former congregant Chris-Ann Bartley.

Publication bans in family court matters are typically used to protect the identities of children involved, while Danso cited the risk to his “significant commercial/financial interests” as a reason for requesting a ban.

His request also said “the matter concerns the paternity of a child which is disputed.”

Bartley’s lawyer, Theodora Oprea, told the Star after Tuesday’s hearing that a DNA test has since confirmed Danso is the father of her client’s baby boy, who is now 6 months old. The test was not directly addressed during the court hearing.

In a sworn affidavit filed with the court, Danso claimed he had never had intimate relations with Bartley. On Tuesday, Myers called that Danso’s “Bill Clinton” moment, referring to the former U.S. president’s false denial that he had sex with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, has ordered the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, to “overhaul the management and activities” of notorious Police unit, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Since last year, numerous Nigerians have taken to social media to accuse officers of the unit of several misconducts ranging from harassment, extortion, assault to extra-judicial killings. This has led to relentless calls for the unit to be completely scrapped to ease the fears of Nigerians who live in dread of the unit.

In a statement issued by Osinbajo’s spokesperson, Laolu Akande, the Acting President ordered the IGP to shut down the unit “with immediate effect”.

The statement read, “Following persistent complaints and reports on the activities of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) that border on allegations of human rights violations, His Excellency, Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN, Acting-President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, has directed the Inspector General of Police to, with immediate effect, overhaul the management and activities of SARS and ensure that any unit that will emerge from the process, will be intelligence-driven and restricted to the prevention and detection of armed robbery and kidnapping, and apprehension of offenders linked to the stated offences, and nothing more.

“The Acting President has also directed the IGP to ensure that all operatives in the emerging unit conduct their operations in strict adherence to the rule of law and with due regard to International Humanitarian Law and the constitutionally guaranteed rights of suspects. The operatives should also bear proper identification any time they are on duty.

“In the meantime, the Acting President has directed the National Human Rights Commission to set up a Committee that will conduct nation-wide investigation of the alleged unlawful activities of SARS in order to afford members of the general public the opportunity to present their grievances with a view to ensuring redress.”

While speaking at a town hall meeting at the launch of National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs, Clinics in Ibadan, Oyo State on June 26, 2018, Osinbajo had disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari was concerned with the operations of SARS and had already ordered a review of the unit.

The vice president further said the unit cannot be scrapped but be rehabilitated to curb the atrocities of the bad eggs.

End SARS campaign

When the earlier calls for the scrapping of the unit grew in December 2017, IGP Idris ordered the reorganisation of SARS’ operational roles and activities.

Under the reviewed arrangement, state Commissioners of Police were installed as overall heads of the Federal Anti-Robbery Squad nationwide.

The IGP also ordered for all SARS personnel nationwide to undergo a new training program to be organized in collaboration with some civil society organisations, local and international NGOs, and other human rights organisations.

Despite the reorganisation, the calls to scrap the unit resurfaced again this year with the unit still operating with impunity that mostly targeted Nigerian youths.

How To Fully Utilize Energy? ELONCITY Seeks to Build a Renewable Electrical Energy Sharing Network Using Blockchain Technology

ELONCITY’s goal is not to replace centralized power generation. Instead, it hopes to reduce residents’ dependence on a centralized power supply system and improve overall resource utilization

Under the supervision of the state, China’s electricity market has achieved “village to village communication.” While this may not be the most efficient method, it does allow more and more people to enjoy the comforts and convenience of electricity.

In the United States, the marketization has brought with it issues of fairness. But at the same time, it has also given families and institutions the possibility of self-sufficiency or even distributed power generation. Odaily recently contacted blockchain microgrid program, ELONCITY, and they shared similar stories with us. Founder Andy Li believes that blockchain can transform distributed renewable energy supplies into a real possibility.

Some states in the United States are undergoing a debate between distributed power generation and centralized power generation.

According to public reports, California approved a law this past January to maintain “net electricity metering” (Net Metering 2.0), which requires electric utility to continue to purchase excess electricity from homes with solar power installations. However, Arizona, California’s neighboring state, abandoned the policy.

In recent years, reports have shown that an increasing number of American households are now installing solar panels. Improvements in energy efficiency and an optimization of the capacity of China’s battery plates has lead to the sharp decrease in solar energy costs. In states with plenty of sunshine, such as California and Nevada, solar power generation enjoys certain advantages. But Andy Li believes that assembly costs of the photovoltaic industry in the United States is far higher than in China, making the cost of rooftop power generation higher than the cost of centralized power generation. However, because solar power is a renewable energy, power generation has been subsidized by both federal and local governments.

For example, with the net metering policy, users can use electricity for free and can also sell excess electricity to the grid: for every kilowatt-hour (kWh) of solar electricity you feed into the grid, you get a bill credit for one kWh of utility-generated electricity. Andy Li told Odaily that, taking into consideration the electricity lost in the transmission process, one kWh of electricity send out from the user side will eventually become least then one kWh after pass through the power grid. Additionally, most of the power stations in the United States generate electricity and then immediately transfer it to users, so the electricity cannot be stored. In societies with undeveloped manufacturing and heavy industries like the United States, peak electricity consumption occurs at night, whereas solar energy is generated during the day.

This situation leads to three possible situations:

Firstly, the centralized power generation market is largely inefficient, and energy isn’t fully utilized due to an imbalance in supply and demand. The power market is divided into three parts: power generation, transmission, and distribution/retail. Since electricity distribution companies are required to purchase electricity from residents, only a small amount of electricity can be bought from IPP (independent power producers). Then, those power stations that are not able to make ends meet choose to shut down. Traditional power stations in the United States transmit electricity with a constant power output, which leads to an excess electricity supply during the day and an insufficient electricity supply at night. Because of this phenomenon, IPP has started investing in natural gas regulating power stations within the past decade.

Secondly, the electricity rate of charge is unfair for whom have no bargaining power on centralized power supplies. As mentioned above, users who install solar panels will be able to enjoy various subsidies, and more and more people will opt to install solar panels. Since electricity bills, in reality, include infrastructure and municipal costs, as a result, users with a centralized power supply will incur higher fees. This means that the solar power subsidies are actually beared by centralized power users. “When the number of paying customers goes down, power transmission and distribution costs as well as infrastructure costs then become higher than the cost of energy itself as is the case in Texas and California.” Andy Li thinks this is extremely unfair for central power grid users. They have no option other than to use the centralized power supply due to their own economic situation or location, and are forced to pay increasingly expensive electricity bills.

Thirdly, unreasonable electricity pricing lead to the unmoderated use of electricity, aggravating the issue of blackouts. As Andy Li said, new energy sources such as Solarcity are priced based on their historical electricity records, which are to be paid off in 20 years. This kind of monthly electricity consumption package makes users consume more power at peak hours during the night.

In order to solve these problems, ELONCITY has tried to build a community micro grid to reduce residents’ dependence on centralized power generation. The overall idea is to promote photovoltaic power generation and energy storage systems in places like California, and to develop community microgrid systems and dynamic pricing agreements. With this, users could freely set prices and sell and purchase excess electricity.

First of all, energy storage systems can store electricity generated during the daytime, and then users can use or sell it at night to avoid energy waste. Secondly, ELONCITY wants to build a community DC microgrid using blockchain, with a community radius of about 1 mile (1.6 kilometers). The hope is to reduce the middleman in electricity sales and allow direct energy trading between families. Thirdly, the community microgrid transaction network will be built on blockchain. With an artificial smart dynamic price adjustment system that can set prices according to supply and demand, the market mechanism would naturally guide users to choose off-peak hours for power consumption. The network medium of exchange is the Token ECT released by ELONCITY. Every community microgrid is like a side-chain network, and cross-community transactions need to go through the main chain.

ELONCITY targets the infrastructure of the community microgrid. ELONCITY hopes that in the future, application developers can develop more smart power applications based on their hardware and software products. For example, indoor smart devices could automatically start or stop according to electricity prices. In addition to providing the underlying transaction and pricing systems, ELONCITY also provides designs for things such as storage equipment, community DC power grids and its scheduler, and endpoint equipment (nodes) in order to help manufacturers produce competitively-priced hardware. All hardware and software facilities in the ELONCITY model will be open-source in order to reduce deployment costs for community DC microgrids.

ELONCITY’s vision is ambitious, however, distributed solar power is not suitable for most cities with high-rise buildings. Andy Li, in his interview with Odaily, emphasized that ELONCITY doesn’t intend to replace centralized power generation, but rather intends to reduce residents’ dependence on centralized power supply systems, improve resource utilization, and promote clean energy.

In the future, ELONCITY is likely to face difficulties such as: 1) Regulatory barriers; 2) High microgrid electricity prices; Microgrid electricity prices need to be cheaper than grid prices, so ELONCITY hopes to use communities to reduce sales costs; 3) In order to reduce the financial barrier for users, ELONCITY needs to introduce low-interest loans on its hardware equipment; 4) Ordinary user promotion may require incentives such as low prices and energy storage; 5) Other competitors like Solarcity may not only want to become a rooftop photovoltaic power company, but to also become a photovoltaic energy platform, covering all aspects of electricity generation, electricity storage, and supply.

Open-source may be an advantage of the ELONCITY model, as it allows more manufacturers and developers to work together to build the networks. In addition, ELONCITY’s team largely comes from the energy storage equipment manufacturer, POMCube, who is known for its well-established hardware products. The DC microgrid is scheduled to complete its demo in November of this year and the blockchain trading network is scheduled to be released in January of next year. Also, small-scale testing will begin next year and large-scale promotion will launch in 2020.

Andy Li, founder of the ELONCITY program, joined Cisco in 1995 as an engineer and later moved on to serve as the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of ChinaCache, a Chinese CDN service provider, and as a Research Fellow at the Alibaba Cloud Computing Data Center. More recently in 2014, Li founded POMCube, which works to develop cloud computing energy management systems, household energy storage systems, microgrid distribution systems, and off-grid power supply equipment.

Nigerian plus-size model reacts after being bullied by a fellow woman

Read her post

So I woke up to this message and the first thing I think is, what is wrong with women? First of all, even if I had a child [which I don’t] so what? A few years back a comment like this would have probably had me crying and depressed but right now I am way passed there. Most women have stretch marks with or without child birth, the only difference is I’m not offended by my stretch mark. I go to the gym, I work out and I’m healthy, my size doesn’t make me unhealthy, neither does my stretch marks. Dear women, let’s learn to appreciate each other’s body and be encouraging to each other because irrespective of what size you are, we all have fought insecurities at some point! Let’s learn to help each other grow. “I’m not doing this to spite or shame her, it just hurts that this is coming from a woman” •
