Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, was spotted on Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, where the former Lagos State Governor and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu resides.

Obi, in a widely circulated photograph, was spotted with a friend walking along the Bourdillon Road, without any security detail attached to him, like other politicians would have.

I’m Ibrahim Suleiman. I was born in the ’80s. I studied Architecture in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. I worked for a couple of years before deciding to go professional with dance. I’ve been dancing for 11 years. I’m a choreographer, writer and dancer. I’m also into graphics. I get bored easily so I find stuff to do hence the numerous talents.

Why didn’t you just start dancing at once?

It’s a long story. I started dancing at age 18 and I was already in the university. I never used to dance so you could say I was influenced by my friends who were quite interesting people

How did people take the news of you wanting to dance professionally?

The only person I had to talk with is my mother. I told her of my intention to try this out while I could as I wouldn’t be able to take such a risk when I’m thirty. She believed in me and so far it’s been great.

How has the experience been so far?

I’m not a man of regrets; I don’t beat myself up if things go wrong, I just move on. I believe my steps are ordered by God ; nothing is by my own doing and so far, I’m blessed to have the opportunity to build a career in dancing. I went pro in 2008 and have done better than most people expected. I’ve been dancing for 11 years and for me its part of God’s plan.

Did you have any form of professional training?

There was no official training as there isn’t any established dance school for my style which is basically hip hop but a blend of different styles. I think that creating my own style is why I’ve grown so much in the industry.

What influenced you to move to dancing professionally?

I didn’t want to wake up at age 35 and ask myself what if. I hate what ifs. I like adventure, experiencing new things and places. I was influenced by Michael Jackson’s performance at the MTV 1995 awards. I watched it over and over and a lot of images were burned into my head but I didn’t start dancing until my third year in the university. My friends started a dance crew ‘Xhibit’ and I had to fill in for one of them who had issues with the time for the rehearsals. When he couldn’t make it two days to the performance, I filled in for him and it was a wonderful experience. Things sort of moved on from there and my dance crew, ‘Soul Quest’ went on to win the first Malta Guinness street dance National championship 2008. We are from a faith group YWAP (Youths With A Purpose). There was a bit of hesitation going in for the competition but we prayed about it and God saw us through.

Would you say that was the highest point of your dancing career; winning the Malta Guinness dance competition?

I wouldn’t say so; everyone has gone off to do their different stuff. I believe there are still more things to come.

What are the challenges of being a Choreographer?

Respect for the art. Quite a number of dancers don’t understand that what they have is a unique ability. The dancers do not respect their art so people do not take the art seriously. Another thing is that because it is not an established industry so people do not ascribe value to it financially. They feel like you are doing dancers a favor but the art is evolving, just as it has with music. That is because some people came together to make music an organized body. People are not looking at the future but at the now. The world is music crazy, every human has rhythm as so dance has a potential to blow up.

What is the best part of dancing?

Thought it is cool to have the crowd screaming and going wild after a performance, there are other parts to it, mainly being passing the message of my work. I perform because people expect a particular standard but when I minister with my dancing and people get the message of my work, then it is fulfilling for me.

How lucrative is it?

Well, there is a food chain as there is in everything. The most established chorographers like Wale of Spirit of David, Kaffy and others are on top of the food chain and then after them the rest of us come in; the freelancers, those with crews and those that don’t get paid for dancing. So it depends on what part of the ladder you are in.

What are your plans for the future?

I plan to go back to architecture. I have people who I mentor and now I’m in a better position financially and mentally to start off my own firm. So in a couple of years, I plan to get back into architecture. I always loved architecture, the way one space led to another. It’s not just about building; it’s about creating an experience with building.

A serial rapist was apprehended after reportedly defiling a young girl in Lagos. It was gathered that the girl suffered bruises and tear in her private part after the act by the rapist.

The girl couldn’t talk or eat after being raped as she was taken to the hospital for treatment.

It was also disclosed that the rapist was summoned by the community leaders who forced him to confess and also accept his punishments, one of which is to make a public apology in the village square next week.

Facebook user Olorunfunmi Adebajo Olafimihan, took to the platform to share the news. Below is what she wrote;

Thanks to Stand To End Rape, we are providing counselling for the girl. She went with her counsellor and Sam to the Mirabel center for medicals. She has a tear in her v@gina, bruises all over her body and abrasions to her wrists. She’s neither eating nor talking. Her mother will be counselled too (why would you beat your daughter for being raped!)

After a 3 hour discussion with the Baale, youth leaders and other community men, we extracted a statement from him.

The final verdict is in his statement as seen in the photo below. The public apologies will be done next Friday at the village square.

We can’t involve the police (yet) because it’s a community steeped in culture and tradition. Everyone is related to everyone else so the family of the girl is not really pushing for justice. We decided that it has to be a punishment agreed upon by the entire community else our safety would be at stake.

We have threatened to involve the police (and indict the community as enablers) if they don’t fulfil their part of ensuring he complies with the punishment.

The other girls in class thanked us profusely. A serial rapist is finally being shamed.

Famous drug baron, Joaquin El Chapo Guzman’s trial will begin in New York tomorrow, November 5.

El Chapo is accused of running the world’s biggest drug cartel and spending 25 years smuggling more than 155 tons of cocaine, worth $14 billion, into the United States. The trial in a Brooklyn federal court, which will cost millions of dollars and is expected to last more than four months, will see one of the world’s most notorious criminals face the US justice system.

Prosecutors spent years piecing together a sweeping case against Guzman, who was extradited in 2017 after twice escaping prison in Mexico, first hidden in a laundry cart, then slipping down a tunnel that reached his prison shower. Guzman has been branded the world’s biggest drug lord since Colombia’s Pablo Escobar, who was dubbed “The King of Cocaine” and was one of the wealthiest men in the world until police shot him dead in 1993.

Experts say the government has a near water-tight case likely to send Guzman, 61, to a maximum security US prison for the rest of his life. But at what price? “Is it going to stop even one additional pound of cocaine from coming into the United States? Probably not. The machine keeps rolling,” says Rob Heroy, a North Carolina lawyer who has defended other Mexican drug barons.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Lagos State chapter has announced former Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure in the state, Dr Kadri Hamzat, as the running mate to its governorship candidate, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The state party leaders made the official presentation of Hamzat as Sanwo-Olu’s running mate on Sunday at the party secretariat, Acme Road, Ogba area of Lagos.

Hamzat was born September 19, 1964.

He graduated from the University of Ibadan in 1986 with a degree in Agricultural Engineering and subsequently furthered his studies at home and abroad, resulting in both an MSc. in Crop Processing Engineering (1988) and a Ph.D. in System Process Engineering (1992).

Sequel to this, he garnered about two decades of work experience in several organisations, including the City of New York, RTP Consulting Services, Columbia University, Merrill Lynch Inc, Morgan Stanley and Oando Plc.

In August 2005, Hamzat was appointed Commissioner for Science and Technology during the tenure of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He retained his position when Governor Babatunde Fashola assumed office in 2007. It was during his tenure as Commissioner for Science and Technology that Hamzat enforced the application of modern technology in the state’s ministries, thus changing the face of data and record keeping in Lagos and at the same time eliminating the trend of state ghost workers.

It is reported in some quarters that this single act was largely responsible for his elevation as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure at the commencement of the second term in office of the Governor Fashola’s administration. The office had gone on without a commissioner during Fashola’s first four years, with only a Special Adviser reporting directly to the governor.

In execution of his mandate, Hamzat’s ministry has completed several key projects for Lagos State in the mega-city era.

Kwamboka also stated that her curves are not the best features in her body.

She said:

“I don’t have a favourite part of my body because all the parts complement one another to make an amazing masterpiece, which is me. However, if I had to choose, I’d say my brain. (I have never done surgery). My shape speaks for itself; you know a real body when you see one.” 

Corazon Kwamboka became popular after she started parading her curves on social media. She shot pictures of herself in the nude and posted them to her social media accounts. Kenya being a social media active country took up these pictures and set the social media ablaze. Socialite Corazon Kwamboka was created.

He called his daughter seeking the truth on the nude pictures but Corazon brushed it off as nothing serious, saying she  was just modelling.

Months later after her half naked pics broke the internet, Corazon landed herself a wealthy Nigerian Sponsor/Boyfriend. She then began supporting her mother to whom she rented a house.

Corazon’s family (brothers,sister and mother) left Mr.Okero in Kisumu and headed to their new home in Nairobi.

Later on his first born son intervened for his dad to come live with them. Mr Okero said this did not work for long as he felt, he was being mistreated since he was no longer the provider of the family but his daughter Corazon was.

Mr Okero left Corazon’s Nairobi home in a huff and never came back. Corazon also stopped supporting her father financially.

Mr Okero says the last time Corazon sent him money, she sent him a paltry 2,000 bob.
