Olubowale Akintimehin Victor, popularly known as Wale, is an American/Nigerian rapper from Washington DC.
He initially rose to stardom in 2006, when his melody ‘Burrow Dug (Shake It)’ got famous in his old neighborhood. Wale received local recognition in his hometown.

Early Life
Rapper Olubowale Victor Akintimehin popularly known as WALE was born on the 21st of September, 1984, in Washington, DC.
His family moved to the US from Austria in 1979. He finished his secondary school from Quince Orchard High School in Maryland, and he later joined Robert Morris University.
Loved football and picked up his love for music during his school days. His cousin, Gbenga Akinnagbe, is known for featuring in the HBO crime drama ‘The Wire.’
Career
Wale started his music carer in 2006 when he signed a contract with a neighborhood record label named Studio 43. He released the single ‘Dig Dug’ which afterward turned into the most requested number by any local artist in Washington DC that year. Wale got featured in the magazine ‘The Source.’
His tremendous success made him get the ‘DC Metro Breakthrough Artist of the Year’ award at the WKY’s Go-Go Awards ceremony.
In 2007, he released his third mixtape, ‘100 Miles and Running’. As he built up himself in the music business, he signed a contract with ‘Allido Records and Interscope Records.
His second album, ‘Ambition,’ was released in the fall of 2011, under the labels ‘Maybach’ and ‘Warner Music.’ It was made before a promotional mixtape titled ‘The Eleven One Eleven Theory’ that became an internet sensation and boosted the sales of the album.
His marketing strategy of releasing singles and mixtapes to promote his albums became successful for his third album, ‘The Gifted,’ and his fourth album, ‘The Album About Nothing,’ that was released in 2013 and 2015, respectively. He also made a few visits around the US to promote his music.
Recently, he has performed with various artists, for example, Rick Ross, Tiara Thomas, and Trinidad James. He recorded the music for the famous ‘ESPN’ sports tv program ‘First Take’ and released his fifth album, ‘Shine,’ in April 2017 with ‘Warner Brothers Records.
