Coming from a royal but humble background, he attended the famous and prestigious Barewa College, Zaria where he obtained his O-level.

The Bauchi State former deputy governor attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he bagged his first degree in Building Engineering.
Having enjoyed government scholarship all through his early education, he started his working career as a civil servant with the Bauchi State government from 1983 to 1992, where he rose through the ranks from Building Engineer II up to an acting Director.
During those ten years of service with his state government, records show Engineer Gidado’s exemplary and sterling qualities.
He was commended for selfless service in 1985 and given an accelerated promotion in 1987.Image may be NSFW.

He later earned another commendation for dedication to duty in 1987 another accelerated promotion in 1988 for his dedication and devotion to duty.
He capped his achievements in Bauchi State civil service with another promotion in 1990.
By the end of 1992, Engr. Gidado transferred his services to the Federal Government, where he was absorbed as an Engineer and a Projects Coordinator for the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).Image may be NSFW.

Engineer Gidado, while at the NDIC, displayed his acumen, dedication and organisational skills and initiatives which were highly commended and rewarded with promotions.
To his Engineering credit is the NDIC headquarters’ building in Abuja.
Engineer Gidado voluntarily retired from public service and went into the private sector as a professional builder.
He is currently, a Director in various, but mainly, Construction and Engineering companies, including Brixman Construction Limited; Buildings Limited; Geas Services Limited and Metroline Limited.

The deputy governor is a Corporate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) and a Registered Member, Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON).
He also received various honours from many organisations and held many positions amongst which are; chairman, NIOB, Bauchi State chapter (1989), member, Distinguished Service Merit Award for Excellence by the Institute of Corporate Executives of Nigeria (2003), Ambassador for Peace by the Universal Peace Federation (2007), Award for Excellence by the National Union of Bauchi State Students (2009).
Other awards obtained by the former deputy governor are; Community Peace Award by the National Peace Summit Group (2010); Life Patron, Leadership Trust Foundation (2012); Fellow/Member Board of Trustees by the Certified Institute of Management, Nigeria (2012) and an Honourary Doctorate Degree in Business Management by the All Saints University of America (ASUA) in 2012.
Engineer Gidado also holds the traditional titles of the Sardaunan Jama’are, in Bauchi State and Olotu Aare of Laje Land in Ondo State.
He lives a modest and low profiled life style, one that is devoid of riches and flamboyance. He sacrifices everything for the less privileged.
Engr. Gidado is identified as a silent but gallant fighter, a leader of a movement that is out to institute social justice, and a true player in the fight for a new Nigeria.
By way of corporate social responsibility, Engr. Gidado has helped several but needy pupils and students with sponsorships in education galvanised into the establishment of an N.G.O, the Nuhu Gidado Organisation.
His is a family of not more than 8. He is known for his simplicity and rare countenance towards people which endeared him to students, women, middle class workers, traders, religious groups and myriads of youth movements.
The people of his home state, Bauchi, having discovered his very compassionate nature were quick to be nicknamed “Zuciyar Talakawa” in hausa, meaning- the “heart of the masses”.Image may be NSFW.

Engr. Gidado ventured into partisan politics in 2011 and contested for governorship of his State on the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC).
